Mabon is a Pagan ceremony that celebrates the autumnal equinox. It is a time to give thanks for the harvest and to celebrate the autumn season.
Mabon is a time of mystery and magic, a time to celebrate the change of seasons and the bounty of nature.
The autumn equinox, or Mabon, takes place on or near September 21, and its spring counterpart falls around March 21, where this year it was four days before Full Moon Libra on 25th of March. and after New Moon in Pisces, giving this 6 month mark of reaping what seeds were planted at the New Moon then.
Mabon is often referred to as the “Pagan Thanksgiving,” a time to express gratitude for the abundance of the earth and the blessings received. Many Pagans use this time to share meals with loved ones, honoring the spirit of community and generosity. Early agricultural societies understood the importance of hospitality—it was crucial to develop a relationship with your neighbors because they might be the ones to help you in times of need.
If you choose to celebrate Mabon, give thanks for the things you have and take time to reflect on the balance within your own life, honoring both the darkness and the light.
The ceremony typically includes a feast, prayers, and rituals that honor the gods and goddesses of the harvest. It is a time of transition, as the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer.
